Indonesia → European Union

From Indonesian origin to European industry.

Nevermore sources cocoa, coffee and spices in Indonesia and imports them into European markets. One origin, worked properly: contract by contract, against written specifications, with the documentation European buyers are required to hold.

Most commodity traders are a mile wide and an inch deep. We went the other way: one origin, a base inside it, and the discipline to buy the same quality twelve times in a row. Other origins will follow — when we can work them the same way.

Supply chain

From origin to your production line.

Every contract follows the same sequence. Nothing moves to the next stage until the previous one is documented.

  1. 01OriginSupplier identification, qualification and commercial negotiation.
  2. 02QualitySpecification agreed in writing; sampling and analysis where contracted.
  3. 03DocumentationCommercial, customs, food-safety and traceability records.
  4. 04LogisticsBooking, container loading and freight with selected partners.
  5. 05ImportEU customs clearance and release for free circulation.
  6. 06DistributionDelivery, call-off or storage in the European market.

Presence at origin

We keep a base in Bali, because sourcing decisions are made at origin.

Indonesia is our origin for everything we sell — cocoa, coffee and spices. It is also one of the most fragmented origins in the world: thousands of islands, thousands of smallholders, and a quality spread that email cannot resolve. Bought from a desk in Europe, you get whatever the exporter chooses to send.

So we do not buy it from a desk in Europe. We keep a permanent base in Bali and work with established local partners across the archipelago, which is how supplier qualification, sampling and harvest-season coordination happen in the producer’s time zone rather than ours.

Other origins will follow. We are building producer relationships in further countries and will open them as origins when we can run them to the same standard — not before, and not on a website ahead of the fact.

Stated precisely: our Bali base is an operational and liaison presence with local partners. It is not a registered branch or a licensed Indonesian representative office, and it does not contract, invoice or take payment. All contracts are concluded by Nevermore Sp. z o.o. in Poland.

Regulation

The EU Deforestation Regulation is now a commercial requirement, not a policy debate.

Cocoa and coffee are both in scope of Regulation (EU) 2023/1115. Following the amendment adopted as Regulation (EU) 2025/2650, the main obligations apply from 30 December 2026 for large operators and traders, and from 30 June 2027 for micro and small enterprises.

In practice this changes what a European buyer must be able to obtain from its supplier: plot-level geolocation, evidence of production date, and a chain of records back to origin. We structure supplier relationships with that requirement in mind from the first contract.

We do not claim certification we do not hold. Nevermore works with suppliers and partners to support the traceability and documentation requirements relevant to European commodity trade. Any certification status is stated per shipment, in writing.

How we work

Six commitments we are willing to be held to.

01

Written specifications

Quality is defined in the contract before the goods are bought, not negotiated after arrival.

02

Documentation first

If the paperwork required for EU import cannot be produced, we do not take the shipment.

03

One counterparty

You contract with Nevermore. We carry the coordination between origin, freight, customs and warehouse.

04

Transparent terms

Price basis, Incoterm, tolerances, quality arbitration and payment terms are agreed in writing.

05

No invented claims

We state only certifications, origins and volumes we can evidence. Anything unconfirmed is described as such.

06

Long-term intent

We would rather build five repeatable programmes than chase fifty opportunistic cargoes.
